Nearly 500 rural health centers across the country to be powered by renewable energy

BUENOS AIRES CITY With an investment of 18 million dollars, and through the Renewable Energies in Rural Markets Project of the National Government (PERMER), the National Government awarded solar panels to almost 500 health facilities distributed in thirteen provinces.
By means of Resolution 756/2022, the Secretariat of Energy awarded six lots for the supply and installation of photovoltaic equipment together with their corresponding internal installations. The panels will be installed in 494 primary health centers in thirteen Argentine provinces.

The equipment will equip the buildings of the Primary Health Care Centers (CAPS) and will improve the conditions of care for more than 40,000 Argentine men and women living in the interior of the country.
Thanks to photovoltaic technology, rural communities will have an uninterrupted electricity supply, thus extending on-call hours and the quality of care services.
The panels will be distributed as follows: Córdoba (11 centers); Tucumán (seven centers); Jujuy (21); Salta (129); Santiago del Estero (173 centers); Catamarca (35 centers); La Rioja (two centers); Chaco (52 centers); Misiones (three); Río Negro (ten centers); Neuquén (28 centers); Chubut (12 centers) and Santa Cruz (11 centers).

Together with the provision of the equipment, each health center will also receive solar refrigerators for the conservation of vaccines, which will be powered by autonomous photovoltaic generators, without the use of batteries, and which are certified by the World Health Organization (WHO).
