For the analyst, Raúl Pineda Alvarado, with this millionaire investment Honduras will enter the stage of energy reconversion that will bring with it a cheaper energy and will favor the environment.
He also considered that Biden’s announcement will create scenarios for legal certainty in the country.
“If this amount of money is going to be available under favorable terms to promote private initiative to replace this energy based on hydrocarbons and use the energy of nature, basically that generated by the sun, Honduras can enter a stage of energy conversion that is favorable to lower energy costs and to favor the environment, and create the right scenario for good investment,” said Pineda Alvarado.

For his part, economist Ismael Zepeda, researcher of the Social Forum on Foreign Debt and Development of Honduras (Fosdeh), said that the investment follows a promise made by the Vice President of the United States, Kamala Harris, to promote projects for energy conversion in the region.
“In the first place, we must remember that there is a promise made by Kamala Harris, to have certain investments and even in the energy issue, which had already been announced and it is then that the fulfillment of that promise that the energy reconversion, especially linked to the sustainable development goals and where through the COP 27, they are practically giving a boost to this issue,” he said.
He said that in the case of Honduras, in the project there is a financier and an outsourcer “which is important to highlight, in this case Banco Atlántida becomes a supervisory entity, overseeing the resources, but also a counterpart of the State, not only giving the money to the government but also that there are certain disbursements, certain administration through a private entity, then it is linked to this vision of being able to exercise financial oversight on the part of the private sector, that would be the innovative thing”.
